Treatment of advanced prostate cancer in which suppression of testosterone effect is indicated: Initial treatment in combination w/ an LH-RH analogue or in conjunction w/ orchiectomy, as well as in patients who are already being treated w/ an LH-RH analogue or in those who have undergone surgical removal of the testes; for the treatment of patients who did not respond to other forms of endocrine treatment or for whom other endocrine treatment is not tolerated but a necessity.
1 tab tds. In combination w/ LH-RH analogue Start w/ 1 tab tds at least 3 days before initial administration of LH-RH analogue & continue w/ the flutamide dose thereafter.
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole w/ a small amount of fluid.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Discontinue in case of liver damage or jaundice. Use w/ caution in patients w/ impaired renal function & in presence of CV diseases. Discontinue immediately in case of hypersensitivity reactions.
Reversible disturbances in liver function. Check liver function before initiating treatment & monitor regularly during long-term treatment. Use suitable contraceptive methods during treatment.
Monotherapy Gynaecomastia &/or chest pain, sometimes accompanied by galactorrhoea; micronodular changes in the corpus mammae; increase in serum testosterone, flush & hair growth changes. Combined treatment Hot flashes, decreased libido, impotence, diarrhoea, nausea & vomiting.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ anticoagulants may prolong prothrombin time.
